Day 9
I'd broken up with my wife
or she had broken up with me,
but she took me
downtown with my dolly and
my backpack to bring back
my laptop and EarthBags
from the squat
his girlfriend had
broken up
with him
i took the bus up
just in case
after chanting
nam myoho renge kyo
at the temple
I was the first one
to wish my son
happy birthday
the cops were out front
stopping a drunk neighbor
from driving her car
her daughter made a fuss...

A young dog at 28
We stayed up talking til 6
but that was still the 9th
because we hadn't been to sleep yet
birthday brunch with mimosas n Budwosas
then freeze in boxers on the f train stop
over the end of the Go on Us canal,
I do not Go on It
By the time we got to Union Sqr
it was dark and he had a bottle
whiskey in my coffee,
time to dance and shout
"New York, take your pants off!"
pantsless people in Whole Foods cafe
pantsless people in barnes and Noble
he read a poem there, loudly
without pants, Ted Berman, he says
he says he waited all his life
to read it, he says, it is about
the twenty eighth birthday, i listen
it is good, a clerk feels like adding
grow up! I add grow young!
then there was the party on
the boat on some godforsaken
canal without a view of manhattan
but it was all glorious
and i hunched by the fire in my
valentino tie and harris tweed
cooking for the young folks
Yeah Bklyn, Gowan us, or 'somebody's kill'
still, it is just water
cold now, frozen to puddle yr piss on
think it's melting?, naw
grilling and sauteing over a Franklin stove's coals
my son is 28
i don't know where the F
I am
happy....

NICE GLASSES!
to be porous as a sieve and
pass what needs to pass
hold needs to be held
to know what is mine
and what is hers
to feel the pain of knowing
what is open and
what is closed
on the instant
of each event
sweet surrender
of self to
FKG A
FLOW!!!

The woman of my dreams
jAMES aLLEN, DAY 14
The woman of my dreams
Wears pink and grey
in the morning
and red rubies at night

Sliding away
James Allen, day 11
the author of the book I read
sets the stage for our small group,
Two tables across from each other
lower level of the mega bus from Nyc
In a cold moon, light sliding away from the day
Little to say, we know each other in our own way
