and the rest is history...

Once upon a time,
there was an art exhibit at a museum in London.

November 9, 1966

On a chilly day in London, a man decides to go see an exhibit
(at the suggestion of a friend.)

He walks in and takes a long look around.
He circles the different pieces of art with thoughtful intrigue.

Finally, he comes to a room that is painted white from floor to ceiling,
it is empty except for
a ladder...
and above the ladder there hangs
a microscope.

His lanky figure moves toward the ladder
and he comes to understand
that he is supposed to climb it.
So, climb he does.

When he reaches the top, he pauses for a moment
to consider his relevance in this white room, on this ladder.

The moment passes at he turns his attention to the microscope.
His eyes move from it towards the ceiling from which it hangs...
and he sees that there is something written there.
He can barely make it out, it is so small.

Ah! Of Course.

He reaches for the microscope hanging before him.

And then with the microscope to his eye,
John Lennon reads what is scrawled ever so tiny on the ceiling.

It reads simply: YES

After arriving back to the ground,
Lennon immediately asked to be introduced to the artist.

And he was...

he was introduced to a 5'4'' Japanese American
named Yoko Ono.

And, as my father says whenever he tells this story,
"the rest is history."
